What started as Raven’s Mom, an LGBTQ+ suicide prevention organization created by PFLAG president Asheley LeFors, has now expanded into PFLAG North Dakota.
Although not the first chapter of PFLAG in North Dakota, this is the first primarily virtual chapter of PFLAG to represent the entire state of North Dakota, Western Minnesota, and Eastern Montana.
Our mission is simple: We support, educate, and advocate for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and those who love them.

What We Do
Provide Support – PFLAG facilitates separate monthly in-person and online support groups, as well as a weekly support group for parents and allies of transgender folks. We also provide periodic programs for special topics and events.
Offer Education – Each month, as part of our support groups, we provide a different education topic relevant to the time of year (back-to-school, coming out, etc.). For the parents / allies of transgender folks, we provide a faith-based discussion one week, book club the next week, sharing our stories, and trans-specific education topics. We also do periodic special programs like suicide prevention training, name change clinic, and others.
Advocate– PFLAG strives to partner with other local and National organizations to educate key decision-makers about the issues that affect our loved ones and families, and to teach others how to use their voices to amplify our efforts toward a more equitable, and just world for the LGBTQ+ community.
Meet Our Board
President
President
Asheley LeFors: Asheley is the PFLAG North Dakota Board President. She is an undergraduate student at the University of North Dakota working on her BA in Psychology and BS in Public Health Education. She was recently accepted in the Accelerated Masters of Public Health program at UND for Fall 2026. Asheley is a retired military spouse, mom, LGBTQIA+ advocate, and suicide prevention advocate. She enjoys glamping in North Dakota state parks with her spouse, photography, and traveling.

Kayla Hanson: Kayla is the PFLAG North Dakota Board Secretary. She is a recent graduate of the University of North Dakota with a B.S. in Psychology. She has hopes of pursuing a career in neuropsychology.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She loves everything outdoors as well as reading and crafting.

Kristy Klein: Kristy is the PFLAG North Dakota Board Treasurer. She is a Medical Laboratory Assistant and is working toward an Associates degree in General Studies. In her free time, Kristy enjoys spending time with her daughters and grandchildren, reading, and trying to play the guitar.
